SADR Grants Mineral Exploration License to Nomad Exploration Pty Ltd
In accordance with the SADR Mining Law 02/014, the SADR Petroleum and Mines Authority (SADRPMA) has signed a Mineral Exploration Agreement and granted Exploration Permit EP012 to Australian company Nomad Exploration Pty Ltd. The Exploration Permit covers 2,000 square kilometers for the exploration of minerals in the Oum Abana area of the Liberated Territories of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
Nomad Exploration intends to use the latest modern exploration techniques including satellite based remote sensing to begin exploration across the permit area. This initial targeting work will be followed with field activities including geophysical and geochemical surveying.
This new licence is the fifth Exploration Permit granted by the SADRPMA in addition to four existing licences for mineral exploration jointly held by Hanno Resources Pty Ltd and Serenity Exploration Pty Ltd in the Liberated Territories of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The SADR adopted a modern mining law and established the SADRPMA in 2014. These licences have been awarded in preparation for the recovery of the SADR’s full sovereignty, given the Saharawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination and permanent sovereignty over their natural resources. The licencing initiatives have been arranged in accordance with international law and the UN legal opinion regarding commercial activities in Western Sahara.
The SADR is a member of the African Union (AU) and is the sovereign authority for the territory referred to as Western Sahara.
